(written to encourage every praying child of God)
(One angel sentry cheerfully greets another.) So what’s up in the Throne Room today, ol’ pal? I’m here to help.
(The other smiles broadly.) Everything perfect. Everything holy. God reigns. All is well, of course.
(Their attention is diverted by a motion near the entrance.) Oh-ho, here comes that pitiful scrap of a human soul again. Who did you say she is?
She’s one of the Redeemed Ones.
Does she have to show up so often? And why always so bedraggled and tearstained? You’d think she’d be ashamed to keep coming in here like that.
I don’t know. Must be really rough living down there. Shh, listen.
She’s kneeling at Their feet. Notice how Jesus and the Father lean toward her like she’s the only one in the room?! What tenderness in Their faces.
Yes. But she doesn’t see it yet. She’s huddled in a lump looking down into her soul. At the ugly sin-stains. And at that collection of heavy burdens she carries.
Wait, did you hear that odd earthly sound?
No, what—oh that! Those are sobs. She’s confessing her bad attitudes and fears and stuff.
Did you see it?! That pure crimson wash? He did it so quickly!
Uh-huh, He’s faithful. Her sin-stains are gone. Completely.
Amazing! She must feel so clean. Did you ever see such a look of gratitude?
Happens every time a Redeemed One comes. I never tire of watching it.
He’s holding out His hands and smiling, lifting her up to sit with Him, burdens and all! What will He do with . . .?
He’ll quiet her with His love. He’ll even sing over her.
(A melody of iridescent sweetness fills the room. Time matters not while the strong Son of God sings.)
Now she’s handing Him a burden. He takes it and hands something back. What’s He giving her?
Grace. Enough of His power and wisdom in exchange for each burden. Then He bears them all for her, so she doesn’t have to. She knows her concerns are safe with Him.
I see. And what’s that light, airy stuff He’s filling her soul-space with?
Joy.
She’s radiant! If I hadn’t been here to see it, I would’ve never guessed she’s the same soul who came in.
Now I think He must be giving her wisdom. She’s listening, nodding.
Yes. A blessing from Him and off she goes. So light. So free.
Oh, hold everything! I’m getting a summons! (Leaves briefly, then reappears.)
Got my orders for the day — I get to assist with the life-guard around that very Redeemed One. Whew, it’s dark down there. How will I be sure it’s her I’m helping?
Easy. She’s surrounded by a glowing sphere of light.
Awesome!
Not only that — she covers her head to show us angels Whose authority she’s under. And when you get close, guess what?
What?
You’ll hear that song He just sang to her . . . she’ll be singing snatches of it.
Okay then—I’m off! Can’t wait to see more of this ama-a-a-a-zing gra-a-a-a-ce! By-y-y-ye for no-o-o-ow!
so let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God; there we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most … if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness … He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing… praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens … my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light … he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them … ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy … as your days, so will your strength be … For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him … He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God … He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light … because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head … those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.
